Before you lay your summer fitness goals to rest, here’s a reminder that you can still get active during the cooler months! Fall is the perfect time to take advantage of outdoor activities that’s tough to do in the summer heat. So find your motivation, and use the change of season to switch up your fitness routine. Here are some fresh ideas to inspire you to remain active as we ring in the autumn weather:
Go on brisk walks.
Believe it or not, walks are a great form of exercise that also does wonders for your mental health. So if you can’t make it to the gym, take yourself out on a scenic walk instead. You can make the most of the nice weather while you stroll. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, you could explore a walking route you’ve never tried before.
Walks are a great way to take in the changing colors of fall leaves, and they provide much-needed relief from being in front of a screen all day. So throw on some comfy shoes and take yourself out for one.
Go on a bike ride.
If you need a new way to explore your city, or engage your kids some outdoor activities, bike riding is an excellent option. Now only is it great for exercise, but you can feel like a tourist in your own city as you bike around to different sites! Plus, if you want to take in those falls leaves, biking on a trail is the perfect way to do that. So find a bike rental near you, or dust off those bikes in the shed, and get moving.
Partcipate in a local 5K event.
Fall is the perfect time to attend a 5k race because you can walk or run the 3.1 miles without overheating. You can discover 5ks that support a good cause, too. For an example, October is Breast Cancer Month, so more than likely, you can find a breast cancer walk near you to support and attend. So round up the whole family, and support a good cause while getting your steps in!
Discover an outdoor group exercise class.
If you love group fitness classes, chances are you can find an organizer who’s putting on some classes outdoors. So if you’re someone who finds motivation in working out with others, outdoor exercises is certainly something you might want to look into. Get your spin on, pilates, barre, or whatever it is that you like to do in the crisp fall air!
