We all have those days where we’ve hit a mental block that leaves us feeling uninspired, frustrated, and unproductive. Days like these are hard, but it’s essential to remember that mental blocks get the best of all of us at some point. What’s most important is how you choose to face them.
Mental blocks are usually a tell-tale sign of stress or a lack of focus, but thankfully, there are steps you can take to “unstuck” yourself and get your creative juices flowing again! I’ve shared my top three ways to overcome a mental creativity block below for you to try out for yourself the next time you’re having trouble with mental clarity.
Get a change of scenery.
Sometimes all it takes is a creative environment to get you inspired again. Try clearing off your desk, rearranging the office, or discover a new environment altogether that gets you in the mood to create. Boost your creativity by immersing yourself in an environment that helps pulls it out of you!
Phone a friend.
When you’re feeling unmotivated, words of encouragement from someone you trust can quickly turn your day around. You can count on your friends who already think highly of you to help you refocus or give you an idea you might not have considered.
Disconnect and get outdoors.
According to research, getting outdoors can help you tackle a mental creativity block by limiting distractions and giving your mind room to wander. So power off the laptop, put your phone on silent, and get inspired by the beauty and stillness of nature.
A creative mental block isn’t the end of the world. Though, it certainly can feel that way at times. Just stay focused, be kind to yourself, and try out these tips the next time you face a mental block!
