In the past three years, I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all experienced life events and changes that have forced us to take a closer look at the way we live and work. Whether you exchanged your in-person job for remote work to be closer to family or decided to find more balance in your life overall, now is the perfect time to explore and reconsider how you want to move forward. And what better way to do that by opening your mind to new ideas through reading?
The following books below have radically changed how I view my work-life balance and my identity as a mom, wife, and entrepreneur. So if you’re in need of inspiration, guidance, or motivation, take a look at my picks below!
#1: Eat That Frog!
If you have trouble with procrastination or you’re just looking for smarter ways to maximize your time, I highly recommend this read. Brian Tracy provides practical instructions and tools to help you build the foundation to overcome procrastination, so use this book as your first step toward finding more free time!
#2: The 4-Hour Workweek
This book is my holy grail, and I credit it for really changing the way I view work and how I spend my time. Having a four-hour workweek might sound impractical to you now, but in this book, Timothy Ferris spells out how being efficient and streamlining your life can lead to an abundance of free time and an overall happier life.
#3: Mothering While Black
As Black mothers, we all know too well the unique challenges that we face while raising our Black children. From discrimination to personal safety, there’s so much at stake when you’re a Black mom in America, and sociologist Dawn Marie Dow examines these experiences and realities in this book. If you want to feel less alone in your walk as a Black parent or have a better understanding of its complexities, pick this book up.
This list is a short one, but I have more favorites where this comes from! If you need more personal development, productivity, and parenting books to add to your wish list, here are a few honorable mentions:
- Making a Home: Housekeeping for Real Life by Better Homes and Gardens Books
- The 12 Week Year: Get More Done in 12 Weeks than Others Do in 12 Months by Brian Moran
- Positive Discipline: The First Three Years
I would love to know what books have dramatically changed the way you view work, life, and family! So leave your favorites in the comments below.
