Are you looking for ways to make some extra cash or to put towards a savings fund? Selling items you no longer need on Poshmark is an excellent way to declutter your home or earn some passive income. I’ve sold over $11,000 worth of items, and I’ve taken home over $8,000 since I joined the app in 2017! Do you want to learn how to sell on Poshmark and make the most out of it? Keep on reading.
If you haven’t heard of Poshmark before, it’s a U.S.-based social marketplace app. You can sell more than just clothes on the app, too. The marketplace is open to home items, makeup, jewelry, shoes, and more. I’m going to walk you through how Poshmark works and how you can start selling your items online today!
Step one: Create your Poshmark account
You can create an account with your email address, Facebook, or Google account. Complete your profile by setting up a profile picture and filling out your bio. Easy, peasy!
Step two: Take photos of your items and upload them to your closet
Pro tip: Always take your photos in the square orientation and not landscape. Poshmark uses square layouts, so this tip will help your closet look nice and clean. Listing your items is easy because you can take the photos right in the app or upload them from an album.
Avoid putting Poshmark’s filters on your photos as they can alter the true color of your item, and throw buyers off.
Style your items in front of a cute or simple backdrop, and if you’re selling clothing items, be sure to include a picture of yourself in the item. People love to know how the clothes look on, so including that type of photo is likely to increase your sales. Make sure to include a description using some keywords people would search for to find your item, and finally, set your price.
Put the original price that you paid for the item, so that way people can see how much you are discounting the sale.
Step three: Start selling!
Now that you’ve got your listing ready to go, it’s time to start selling and shipping your items. After you’ve made your first sale, Poshmark will send you a shipping label to mail the item. If you don’t have fancy shipping paper, no worries! I usually fold a piece of paper in half, cut it, and then voila! I’ve got a perfectly sized piece of paper for my shipping label.
Spruce up your shipment by packing your items with tissue paper or decorating the box with washi tape!
Don’t pay for boxes or envelopes to ship your items because USPS always offers priority boxes for free. Then, after you’ve got your label and the item is packed, all you have to do is mail your items off to the customer. And that’s it. Learning how to sell on Poshmark isn’t hard at all, and you can start earning money today!
